Manchester has a great choice of places to eat in, ranging from award winning restaurants, to greasy spoon Cafes. Italian restaurants like Paolos, and the Est, Est, Est are popular with the locals. For the celebrity chef experience, head down to Nico Central, Le Petit Blanc as well as Heathcotes. For a more relaxed setting, try the Cafe Pop, which is a trendy spot with good vegetarian cooking. Just a few miles south of the city centre is Didsbury, which has some of the best restaurants in Manchester such as the Lime Tree. The award winning Great Katmandu Nepalese restaurant has beautiful food to savour and its important to book in advance. Beech Road in Chorlton has fine cuisine to choose from, with its east- west fusion of recipes. Deansgate and Castlefield have some great traditional style restaurants like Dimitris, Jowata, as well as Rafas, which have great mouth-watering recipes. Chinatown has some great restaurants to choose from. Restaurants like the New Emperor and the Pan Asian Pacific are real dining experiences, while the Yang Sing, is famous in the city as serving the best Cantonese food in all of England. The area is extremely popular and has several bakeries and Chinese souvenir shops. The Earth Café, which is located under the Manchester Buddhist Centre and one can try out some really wholesome vegetarian cuisine. Rusholme is the large Asian part of town with the best restaurants in all of England at very reasonable prices. The Curry Mile is located around here at Wilmslow Road and has some great restaurants like the Sangam and the traditional family run Tandoori Kitchen which serves up some great Indo- Iranian cuisine. The Shere Khan Restaurant is extremely popular and one may have to queue for a table here. Whalley Range is on the way up with a whole new regeneration going on and many new restaurants and bars opening. The excellent Palmiro on Upper Chorlton Road has become extremely popular for its Italian food. The infamous Gay Village has also got some great restaurants that are world class and one has to check out the exclusive Sarasota eatery, which offers fine cuisine. |
